Last week our first BBQ Trailer volunteers for 2025 cooked up a storm of bacon and egg rolls outside The Hub on Spring Street in South Grafton. The friendly faces of four of our Year 12 Catholic Faith in Action students, Logan Cone, Felicity March, Abby Dickson and Sam Waterhouse, greeted and served the local community, putting their Catholic Faith in Action volunteering coursework into practice and sharing the good news of Christ through their words and actions, bringing a moment of respite, relief, nourishment and friendship to the vulnerable and marginalised in our community. Our students did a great job and established a wonderful rapport with the very appreciative people they met, and we are looking forward to many more catch-ups throughout the year.
Joining the students this week was our new College Youth Minister, Jacob Somers, who will be working throughout the College supporting students in their faith journeys. In addition to Jacob, special thanks and acknowledgement must be given to the ever-helpful and obliging Brett Bowling (logistics) and Alan Doyle (additional supervision and photography). Without their goodwill and support, we would not be able to do this community work, so thank you, gents, for giving up your lunchtime to come and help out.
Over the next few weeks Year 12 students will just be heading out on Mondays, but from Week 6 onwards, our new cohort of Year 11 students will also start venturing out to The Hub on Fridays, cooking up a feast and having a chat from about 11.15 am to 12pm. Please feel free to come along if you are in the area to see our amazing students in action and experience their Christian hospitality firsthand.
